Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 6, 2026
OmniConvert ("we", "us", "our", or the "App") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy details the information we collect, how it is processed, your legal rights under regulations such as GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, LGPD, and VCDPA, and how parents/caregivers can manage children's privacy choices.
1. Identity of Data Controller & Contact Information
The Data Controller responsible for processing your information under this Privacy Policy is:
- Data Controller Name: OmniConvert Development Team
- Lead Developer & Data Protection Contact: Carlos Peter
- Contact & Privacy Email: carlos.business2011@gmail.com
- Designated DPO Contact: carlos.business2011@gmail.com
2. Personal Information Collected and Processed
A. Information Processed Locally on Your Device (Not Transmitted)
- Selected Input & Converted Files: OmniConvert accesses only files you explicitly select using system pickers (scoped storage). Conversions execute 100% locally. Selected files, file names, file paths, and converted output are never uploaded, transmitted, or sold.
- Conversion History & Preferences: The App stores your conversion history in a local SQLite database and local preferences (SharedPreferences) on your device. This includes input/output file paths, formats, file size, status, timestamps, errors, language/theme choices, favorite converters, policy acknowledgment, and launch counters.
B. Information Automatically Collected by Third-Party SDKs (Transmitted)
When connected to the internet for advertising or system updates, third-party SDKs process the following technical data:
- Google Mobile Ads SDK & Google User Messaging Platform (UMP):
- IP Address: Collected by Google to estimate coarse location (country/city level) and for security/fraud prevention.
- Device & Account Identifiers: Android Advertising ID (GAID), App Set ID, and hardware identifiers when available.
- App & Ad Interaction Data: App launches, page views, ad impressions, ad taps, and interactions with privacy consent forms.
- Diagnostics & Performance: Crash logs, SDK latency, load times, and performance metrics.
- OneSignal Push Notification SDK (
onesignal_flutter):- Push Notification Delivery: When push notifications are enabled, OneSignal processes a pseudonymous device subscription ID, device model, operating system version, and notification interaction metrics (deliveries, opens).
- Purpose: To send live background conversion completion alerts, app update notices, and one-time announcements.
- Zero File Access: OneSignal never has access to, receives, or transmits your selected files, file names, or converted contents.
- Google Play In-App Updates (
in_app_update): Queries Google Play Services for critical updates, sending standard app version and device metadata.
3. Device Permissions & System Settings
To deliver smooth background processing and user updates, OmniConvert requests two optional Android system permissions:
- Push Notifications (
POST_NOTIFICATIONS):
Purpose: Displays real-time progress bars in your notification shade during file conversions, alerts you when your files are ready in Downloads, and provides Play Store update announcements.
User Control: Optional. You can grant or revoke notification permissions at any time via in-app Settings or your device's Settings > Apps > OmniConvert > Notifications. - Battery Optimization Exemption (
REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS):
Purpose: Heavy conversions (such as video transcoding, audio conversion, and large PDF batch processing) require uninterrupted CPU execution. This permission exempts OmniConvert from aggressive Android battery-saving measures that would otherwise freeze, pause, or kill conversion tasks when you switch apps or turn off your screen.
No Data Collection: This permission does not collect, track, or transmit any data whatsoever; it only controls Android background execution scheduling.
User Control: Optional. You can toggle this setting in the in-app setup dialog or via your device's Settings > Apps > OmniConvert > Battery.
4. Purposes of Processing and Legal Basis
We process personal data only when authorized by legal bases under applicable privacy laws (e.g., EU/UK GDPR, CCPA, LGPD):
| Purpose of Processing | Data Categories | Legal Basis (GDPR / Global Laws) |
|---|---|---|
| Offline File Conversion & History | Selected files, output files, local history & preferences | Performance of Contract / User Request: Necessary to execute requested conversions locally. |
| Background Conversions (Battery Exemption) | Zero data collected (Local execution setting) | User Request / Legitimate Interest: Ensuring background tasks complete without system termination. |
| Push Notifications & Progress Alerts | Pseudonymous subscription ID, device model, notification interaction | Consent: Explicit user permission to receive notification updates. |
| Ad Serving & Personalization | Device ID, Advertising ID, IP address, interaction metrics | Consent (where required) or Legitimate Interest: Displaying ads via AdMob to fund app operation. |
| Security & Fraud Prevention | IP address, Advertising ID, App Set ID, ad logs | Legitimate Interest: Preventing invalid clicks, ad fraud, and ensuring app integrity. |
| App Updates & Maintenance | App version, OS version, device parameters | Legitimate Interest: Maintaining app security and stability. |
